BC Implant experiences?

Hi ladies I’ve been looking into contraceptive options and was wondering if anyone has experience with the arm implant that can tell me what it’s like (side effects) and how well it works. I’m debating between that and just the traditional pill method. Also how did you go about getting them, do you just ask your gyno?Any response is appreciated!

I had it for 3 years when I was in college. It worked for what it was which was birth control, but it caused me to gain a bit of weight which I think contributed to my fertility issues that I had after it was removed. I never had periods while I had it, which was fine with me because my periods cramps are the worst, but my periods were never regular again after I had it out. I’m horrible at taking pills so it was the right choice at the time, but I wouldn’t get it again.

I have nexplanon, best method that I’ve tried. My body does really well with it, I have had it since February and haven’t had a full period or any of the PMS stuff since! It’s the best. I know some women don’t do as well and bleed for a while on it. I have not experienced any of that.

I had the nexplanon and I personally would not recommend it to ANYONE. It messed my body up so badly. I was on it for almost 10 years & now I’m struggling to get pregnant. I’ve been off of it for 1 year and 6 months and my body has no clue what it’s doing. Towards the end of me having it- I suffered from rejection bleeding. I rarely had a period. But towards the end of me having it, I bled for months. I don’t recommend it.
