Potty training advice for 2 year old girl?

My daughter is 2 1/2 and we are trying to potty train. She has peed in the potty a couple times but it’s not an easy process to get her there. She cries and freaks out when she sits on the potty and will hold her pee in until it’s nap time or bed time and we put a diaper on. I have tried everything to help her anxiety when on the potty but nothing seems to be working. Any tips for making this easier (if possible)? Thanks in advance!

This isn’t really a trick but honestly kids will let you know when they are ready. My son was “ready” when he turned 2, would go pee, didn’t really understand then one day wanted nothing to do with it. We waited and now that he’ll be 3 in August and I’m due end of October I didn’t want 2 kids in diapers. We started out with just taking him with us each time we went potty and then progressed to just sitting him on the potty every hour even if he didn’t have to go. Now he’s pretty much potty trained during the day but still relapses and might pee his pants. Just try to make it fun, he really liked being able to shout “yay!”after every time he used the potty and now he’ll just go on his own. We haven’t tried over nights yet though.

I’d say wait a little, give her a break but keep the potty out so she can go up to it if she wants. Read her books, watch videos. Watching YouTube videos is what really helped my son, I think it was coco melon 😆

If she’s stressed out over it then she likely just isn’t ready. I’d hold off for a few more months and things will likely be completely different.

We read boxes or watched YouTube videos. The last one really helped because videos on the phone and tablet are reserved for the car. I though we’d have to wean him off videos but we didn’t.

It's because she isnt ready. You need to back off. The more stress you put on her and the more she hold it the worse it's going to be in the long run(prolonged potty training and possibility of UTI's). Encourage her to sit when you sit if she refuses dont force. Maybe use a pull up with underwear placed over so she can pull down when she sits but not feel so uncomfortable that she holds her pee(my daycare does this method).
