Won’t go to the club, but will a bar

So there’s a club in a nearby town that I went to a few times and like. I love to dance and really enjoyed it.

I havnt gone recently cause, covid.

My boyfriend has also gone there a few times, but not recently cause, covid lol.

We met about 10 month ago and been dating for 9, so we’ve never gone together.

I brought it up to him and he said no, very nicely and more wordy, but still no. He would go to the adjoining bar with me tho.

When I asked why, he says cause the club is for hooking up, and the bar is for drinking. I don’t drink tho, I go to dance. I explained that to him but he’s still not into the idea.

What would you do? Why do you think he’d say that?
