It depends on a few things in my opinion.
How long ago did they break up?, how long were they together for?, does he look back with hate on that relationship or does he always slag his ex off?
Personally for me, when I broke up with my ex I hid the photos on my phone because I didn’t want to see them but I also didn’t want to delete them, for 2 reasons… 1) I’m a sentimental person so memories is everything to me 2) I liked how I looked in them.
After about 6months I deleted them, I didn’t really want to delete them as such but when I met my now partner I didn’t feel like I needed those memories anymore I can make new and better ones. 
It could be for a number of reasons but if you two have been together for a while then it could be a little strange.

I had some pictures of me and my ex purely bc I looked good lol. for a long time couldn't bring my self to look at them to even delete them. It was sickening

I have pics of many of my exes…my husband knows and doesn’t care…did the relationship end? Sure, but there were still some good memories and adventures (went with an ex to DC and got to go behind the scenes at an aquarium, another we went on some really cool adventures in San Diego). I still value those memories, and my husband respects I have a past.

Is he looking at these photos regularly or are they just in his cloud? I've never gone in to intentionally delete photos after a break up. The most I did was make the photos of our wedding a private album on Facebook so no one else can see them but me. We got divorced 4 years ago as of last week and my second husband has never cared.
