C Section upon request?

Anyone know if you can request an elective c section? I know because it’s not optimal for the baby/mom one doesn’t want a c section also insurance prob won’t cover etc. I’m just curious if you can even ask and the dr can give you one upon request and if anyone has ever done this? 
Don’t need to hear a million reasons why not to do it/why vag birth is better so please don’t comment if that’s your 2 cents.

You’re within your rights to ask for sure (and you are right insurance probably would not cover it) but your doctor is also within their rights to say no if there is no medical reason for it, so just be prepared.

You can ask but I don't know why some would want to go through that for no real reason. They likely won't do it if there's not a reason to. It's meant for women with medical issues that cause them to not be able to have a vaginal birth.

When I was young, naive and uneducated I wanted a c section too. I was terrified of ripping my vagina during childbirth. But let me tell ya, the power us women have. Your lady parts will go back to normal. I’m not sure why I ever wanted a surgical procedure done, where I wouldn’t be able to hold my baby until I could wiggle my toes and the healing process is a lot harder over vaginal birth. I haven’t had a c section, I’m fortunate enough to have been able to do it vaginally but my SIL, MIL and husbands aunt all told me how hard it is, the pain pills you’re prescribed etc. Ask for one but I doubt they’ll tell you yes if it’s not necessary. I threw my 2 cents in so when they tell you no you still realize it’ll be just fine.
Your vagina will go back to normal lol. FYI, women who get c sections still bleed 6 weeks and experience lochia because regardless a placenta detached from your uterus.

Little late to commenting but may I ask how it turned out? 
I’m quite concerned with the negative comments here.  
You absolutely can request a CS if you want one. Remind any doctor that if they can’t provide you with the healthcare you need then they need to refer you to someone who can. 
Mental health is 100% reason enough to request a CS. 
I’ll be having one next year and expect some push back from the local healthcare. I unfortunately live in a very conservative area so it’s a little backwards when it comes to women’s healthcare here. I refuse to have another vaginal birth though. It was the absolute worst thing I have ever been through in my life. Nearly killed me and completely ruined my body. 
I hate that so many are ready to try to scare you with all the “risks” of a CS yet never talk about all the risks associated with vaginal birth. 
At the end it is slightly more risk to the mother. Less risk for your baby.

I’ve never asked nor do I know anyone who has asked. 
But like others said you can ask, but it’s within the doctors rights to say no if it’s not necessary. 
Personally I’m so glad I had a vagina delivery. My recovery sounded wayyyy easier than csection mamas I know. Having a newborn was so hard in those first weeks and I can’t imagine adding on recovering from major abdominal surgery to that.

I’m not sure. I would ask your doc. I assume if they recommend it then it wouldn’t be elective? If they can find some reason to recommend then I think insurance has to cover it.
