Should I change my last name ?

So my husband passed away almost 3 years ago. We had two kids together. When we got married I took his last name and my boy have his last name as well. So fast forward a couple years I’m getting remarried and I’ve decided that they are gonna keep their bio dads last name ( my fiancé has been a dad to them and they consider him their dad) so I’m debating if I keep my last name or change to his ( my name is already to long to hyphenate I also don’t like hyphenated names ) anyways I would like to change my name to his but I feel weird about it like I would be disrespecting my late husband any advice?

I personally feel like it would be disrespectful to your new husband if you kept your old husband’s last name. I’m so sorry for your loss, I can’t imagine what that would have been like.

I know someone who legally changed her maiden name to her middle name after she got married & took her husbands last name… you could make your late husband’s last name your new middle name AND take your future husband’s last name!! Just a suggestion!!

I would definitely ask for your new husband's opinion, and depending on their age, probably your children as well.
It's not a custom where I'm from to lose your "maiden" name when you get married anymore. I think it's kinda weird to take someone else's last name, it feels like you become their propperty.. Like you're no longer your own person.
