Moving to twin bed?

Question

Any of you transitioned to a big bed like a twin with a railing? I’m thinking about doing this next month right after his third bday. Any tips or how did it go for you?

We have my son on a full size mattress on the floor. He has been using it since he was like a year old. Haha. We will probably get a frame for his 4th birthday (like we did with my daughter).

We got my son a full size bed for this past Christmas. He was in a toddler bed prior to that. 
His big boy bed has a mesh rail across the long side and there's a step stool at the foot so he can get up and down by himself. He absolutely loves his bed. 
We let him help us build it and talked about it for a few days before. 
He was very excited about it so be prepared to lose a couple of naps. The first time he slept in it was a bedtime when he was pretty guaranteed to be tired enough to sleep.

My son is in a twin size bed against the wall. I bought a bumper rail from Amazon for the side that's open so I don't ever worry about him falling off. He actually cuddles with it sometimes. We love his twin bed.

We've started each bed transition with a floor mattress. Crib to floor to toddler frame to twin on floor and then a frame. They learn spacial awareness pretty easy my daughters been in her twin for around 6 months and she'll be 3 in a couple days . She's slid off once or twice but never gets hurt just enough to make her whine for help

We plan on transitioning her to a twin around Christmas. We have a bed frame, mattress, sheets, and duvet picked out and everything already. She currently sleeps in her convertible crib which is in the toddler bed layout. She doesn't move a lot in her sleep so we don't have to worry about railings or anything. But they do have some you can get to put under the mattress if this is an issue for your child
