Meeting friends problem?

My 2 year old has a really hard time making friends, but it’s not because of her. Idk if it’s the area I’m in (north Georgia super kid friendly area) or what?? We’ll go to the playground and stuff and she tries to say hi to every kid and they just stare at her and walk away. Is this normal? I feel so bad I want to cry. She seems fine with it but she honestly has no friends and I don’t want it to affect her 🥺

2 year olds rarely have actual friends. Even in daycare, many do whats called parallel play....they play with their own toy sitting near each other, but not together. This is especially true of first or only children. It sounds like she is very sociable which is great, but not all kids her age will understand how to play together with another kid they just met. It doesnt reflect anything negative of her.

I don’t think 2 year olds have any concept of “friends” or even like other kids. 😆
My point being, I don’t think your child is negatively affected by the interactions.

Totally normal. I had to make friends with parents and set up regular playdates for my son to make friends. He is the same way as your LO. He will say hi and try to play with every kid he sees but most don't want to unfortunately.
