Cervical ripening and induction?

This is my first baby and I’m currently 4 days overdue. I just had an appointment and my cervix is still closed and baby is still sitting high. I have tried all the “tricks” at softening my cervix and inducing labor at home and nothing..I’m supposed to be getting scheduled for an induction for the day I hit 41 weeks, and my doctor also mentioned me having my cervix ripened. She explained all the different methods they used but not one in specific that would be used on me. I’ve heard it can take a long time or cause more complications, and has a bigger chance of ending in a c-section? Anyone been through the same thing, I’m more nervous than ever now…

I had cervical ripening & induction at 39 weeks and it was smooth and relatively quick! Would do it again the same way in a heartbeat. 
Short version of my story: checked into hospital at 9pm and started receiving the suppository for cervical ripening. By 7am I was 90% effaced and 2cm dilated. Started on Pitocin around 9am and went from 2cm-7cm in about 2 hours. Had the epidural (forget what time), water broke naturally about 20 minutes later, pushed for an hour and had my son at 4:28pm on Christmas Eve 💙

I had the cervical ripening and induction all done when I was at 41 weeks and 1 day, didn’t need c section. I went in on Monday evening, got the ripening, then he came Thursday 12:09 am. Good luck mama!

I was induced at 37 weeks and I was a fingertip dilated (.5 cm) and 30% effaced. They put cervidil I think by my cervix for about 12 hours. Then I was given a pill of misoprostil over 4 hours I think. Then my water broke 2 hours after the second half pill. 2 hours later I got the epidural. An hour later was started on pitocin. I eventually tried to get a csection (son was having heart decels with every contraction, this can happen whether you’re induced or not) and they refused to give me one. A few hours later I gave birth vaginally. The decels were happening because the cord wrapped around his neck once and with every contraction, the cord would squeeze some. But he came out perfectly healthy. 
If you are worried about a csection, learn everything about it. Do not have your heart set on following your birth plan to a T. Obviously follow it, but understand that things happen and your plan may have to change. Good luck mama ❤️💙
