Baby Shopping?!?

Hey mamas! So I’ve found out gender and I’m 17 weeks now and ready to start shopping! When is the right time to start shopping for baby stuff and nursery items?

My man already had a pack n play and diapers stashed away before we even got the positive and didn’t tell me 🤣
But since then we got a crib, some random necessities, and a bunch more diapers and wipes. 
I’ve been trying to keep it all neutral until I get gender but I wanted to spread out the purchases and not have to do it all at once.

I went crazy on baby clothes already and had some things from my last pregnancy saved. Mainly big items. I recommend not overfilling your nursery, bedroom with many things like I did! Buy gift cards. If you are having a baby shower, spread the news now and have the list ready to go. Then you can see what you need and go from there! I bought diapers from premie up to size one just incase. I saved receipts. I have history of preterm labour. So I’m just trying to get ready.

I asked this same questions. My husband has been wanting to do things ASAP. The room is already painted 
We were gifted the crib and stroller so we already have those as well. Just needs to be put together. We’re 17 weeks.

Don't buy a bunch of clothes. You don't know the sizes you'll need or anything so chances are you'll waste money on something they'll never wear, and resist the urge to stock up on diapers and wipes for sizes and allergies. Really all you need to start is a place to change the baby, a bassinet, a chair that rocks and is comfortable for you, bottles just in case you need to use formula, plenty of wash clothes and towels, burp rags, receiving blankets, and a baby bath. Plus you can't buy the stuff you'll need for a winter baby until about November. Go nuts on decorating if you really want to though. I didn't, but I'm just not that kind of mom. Lol

I don’t start shopping until around 30 weeks and I’m don’t let anyone purchase anything for me as I’m very specific on what I want and/or need so I tell people if they want to help they can get gift cards. This pregnancy it’s even more so because I’m not finding out the gender and I know if people want to buy me stuff they’ll pick either for a girl or boy.

For my daughter I was getting stuff as soon as I found out her gender. With baby #2 (15 weeks today) I am holding off. My best friends baby is 7 months so she gave me a bassinet and car seat& stroller and extra things like nipple pads and left over diapers. Even some gender neutral clothes lol. So I'm just waiting. When I find out the gender I might go ham tho lol

I personally recommend having an early shower and then buy things you need after that.

I’m 16 weeks today and have already grabbed some items! The best time is whenever is best for you and your family! I’m getting all the big things myself so I like to start early and be sure we’re prepared!
