Laryngomalacia & speech

𝙲𝚊

My son was diagnosed with LM when he was just a couple weeks old. His ENT said he should grow out of it by age 2 & it’s been a year now since his last stridor episode. He is my 2nd baby & I know that every child does things on their own time but he’s not really talking a lot & I’m wondering if him having LM would be connected to that?

He’s 15 months old now. I know he understands me just fine. I taught my oldest sign language starting at 6 months & I started with him at that age too. We just do basic needs for now like milk, juice, eat, sleep, more, water, just to take the guessing game out of things. He does communicate his needs that way but he really only says 3 words (this/that, mama, dada). He can follow simple commands (“can you find the ball?”, “show me where your toes are”, “can you get your blankie?”). He will point to objects when you name them. So I know he’s able to comprehend me, he’s just not vocalizing.

Did your LM child(ren) have issues with their speech?

He does have a doctors appointment next week & I plan on bringing it up with his pediatrician. Just curious to see if any other LM parents have noticed this with their babies.
