My 9 month old had a fever for a good 3 days, nothing too high. Earlier today I noticed sores in his mouth that I didn’t notice before, 6pm yesterday temp was 101 before a nap, 8 hours since then and been below 100 without meds. Something I noticed yesterday morning, he woke after sleeping at the night with a temp of 95, now I’ve never tested him before then when he wasn’t sick in the morning to know if he’s normally like that. But I freaked out and read babies can get hyperthermia and even though I had just put him back to sleep after waking up crying like he usually does for a bottle, I woke him, he was drowsy, could’ve been cuz he was deeply sleeping but I was so freaked I put him in the bath for like 30 minutes with me, at first he was tired and confused and tried to lay his head down on my leg but perked up and started talking and playing. His temp went up to 98 when we got out, he was fine, went back to sleep but from there fever crept back up, last reading of fever 101 right before his first nap.

Woke up with a temp of like 99, second nap he woke with a temp of 96, 40 minutes after being awake went to 98, hour later 99, I tested him again at the end of the 8 hours and he’s just 99.8

Sores look like their disappearing as well, no cold or anything. Something Rash like looks like it was setting in like roseola which my daughter had last year at 18 months, looks just like when she had it, I remember taking her to the doctors and they were like it’s fine and had to have a certain look to be dangerous. My question is, Is it normal for babies to wake with such low temps? Or could something cause that?? My daughter has never had that even when she was worse sick then him, he seemed almost fine other than swollen eyes look from fever and extra fussy but he was still playing and what not..

I know we cool down when we sleep but since I’ve never tested him when he wasn’t sick when he wakes I don’t know, gonna go to the er tomorrow just in case, a family member is picking me up, but he’s not seriously ill or acting weird so I’m gonna just watch and check him through the night till then

update: 6am now, temperature reading 97.3, what causes the temperature to drop? Fever completely broke already
