Breast pump recommendations?!

FTM and would love to hear and breast pump recommendations! Do you wait until baby is here to buy it or recommend buying one before baby is here?

I loved my spectra with my first. I don’t remember which model it is but it was blue (rechargeable). I did pay a slight upgrade fee but I’m glad I did so
I wouldn’t have to be tethered to an outlet while pumping. I would recommend getting it before baby comes but don’t order it super early because the warranty starts as soon as it’s shipped. Mine did lose its suction after about 8 months of use but I was able to contact spectra and they sent me a new one the next day. Despite that issue, I would still recommend it. Their customer service was great!

See which ones your insurance will cover and chose one of those. You just get your doctor to send a prescription to your insurance at around 28-30 weeks so you have time to get it in.

I got a spectra 2(free) last pregnancy. Upgraded to the spectra 1($65) this time. I plan to keep one at work and one at home.

Yeah I went with Spectra because it was a closed system versus Medela. Their other options but if you have insurance those are the two major brands that are covered. Definitely get it before baby comes and learn how to use it (nipple stimulation is great for getting labor started though so don't try it out too soon, ask your provider what they recommend). But at least get familiar with it check out the manual to figure out all the pieces, how to wash it, etc. And make sure to to get sized for the flanges. Usually only two sizes come with your pump when you order it I think 22 and 24 but I was a size 17 so I needed to order the correct size for me.
