Just read that the mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot attended lollapalooza (a super-spreader event) after reinstating the mask mandate. I don’t see one person wearing a mask in that crowd including the mayor.

Barack Obama is also hosting a 60th birthday bash  in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Although, the gathering will take place “outside” and the guests are recommended to follow CDC guidelines, the delta variant is still INCREDIBLY transmissible.

They should be able to do to what they want, but I don’t think it’s right that they tell us to do one thing for the safety of this country but then go and do exactly what they tell us not to?

I’m not familiar with Obama’s birthday party, but you’re wrong about lollapalooza. 
It was in compliance with current Chicago mask mandates. Outdoors, which the majority of events were no masks required. In doors masks required. Attendance was conditional upon either a proof of vaccination or a negative test from the last 72 hours. The city also sent under cover health inspectors trying to see if they could gain access with either, they were unsuccessful. 
While I also thought it was a risky go ahead to have, its way too soon to call it a super spreader event. There’s no proof of that. It just ended Sunday, and Covid has an up to two week incubation period. We won’t be able to look at data until the.

Use better sources for your news. Obama’s party is outdoors following all CDC guidelines and they will be testing guests and having a Covid coordinator on site. Martha’s Vineyard is considered a “moderate” spread, and indoor masking is not recommended by the CDC until an area reaches “high” or “substantial.” And of course, guests are welcome to be masked if they would like. It’s also likely that many of those in attendance are fully vaccinated.

Just saw about the huge 60 year old birthday bash today on the news that “a few hundred people will be attending.” And here we are worried about our school starting Friday without masks being required while our local hospital’s covid numbers are back on the rise 🙏

There were definitely cases of hypocrisy during Covid, but I wouldn’t particularly highlight these examples. They were not out of compliance for the moment in time.
