I’m 27 weeks with my third baby. I was at my doctors this week for check up and I was counseled on whether to give a normal birth or schedule a cesarean. I am not sure of how I would like to give birth and I’m asking for opinions please?

I have an 80% chance of doing a successful VBAC in the general sense. So at first that was the way I wanted to go, however, after telling my doctor I had a 4th degree tear with my 1st baby because I couldn’t finish pushing her out without vacuum assistance, the thought shifted. Mostly likely if the baby is as big or bigger than my first I could tear again, 4th degree or more, which could leave me in a tough spot with healing.

My rectum muscles might not heal completely and I could end up with troubles down the road. After hearing this and not wanted to experience tearing again. I’m now leaning to schedule a c-section.

The pain was the same for both deliveries with tearing so much but in different spots. After weighing pros and cons, they are fairly even in the risks vs rewards for either.

Does anyone have any thoughts or stories to help me decide?

I’m due Nov 3rd and my c-section, if decided on, will be scheduled about October 27th.
