Doxycycline while breastfeeding compatibile ?!?!?

I told my dr I am breastfeeding and she prescribed me doxycycline antibiotics due to an infection I have. Is this safe while breastfeeding? I looked it up online and have mixed feelings about it! Should I just give my newborn formula while taking it ?! Anyone know ?

I would say trust your gut over your doctor. Look at the inserts for your prescription (sometimes the manufactures have them online). Also weigh the risks… will your infection harm you or your baby more than just taking the prescription? Can your body fight this infection on its own? Any natural remedies you can try first? 
I was prescribed Tamiflu during my last pregnancy and the pharmacist was the one who was shocked I was given that when pregnant. Got the prescription anyway, read the insert which says “do not take when pregnant or breastfeeding” and never took it. I got tested and didn’t have the flu anyways. My body recovered after a week or two. 
Took longer but felt better knowing I wasn’t taking something that could potentially be harmful. 
Trust yourself and do your research. Ask your doctor questions about alternatives too!
