How much should I charge (babysitting)?

So I might have the opportunity to babysit for family that has three kids (ages seven, six, and four!) For context, I’m a seventeen year old girl, I know the kids because they go to the camp that I work at, and I have a quite a lot of experience working with kids of all ages. The family is at least fairly well off because the camp is quite expensive and they are sending three kids there, plus apparently they just moved into a pretty big house. I get along really well with these kids and would be really exited to babysit them, plus they seem exited to have me as a babysitter! If you were me, how much would you charge them? I don’t want it to be a ridiculously high amount ofc cause then I wouldnt be called back but I think i can expect a pretty good rate? Lmk what you think

It depends what exactly you are doing, I was a nanny more than 20 years ago, The kids are married and have kids by now, but I knew the family since I was eight years old and was a mother‘s helper first and then started babysitting and then as they got older,  and by the time  I was driving, I was basically their mother because she was doing her doctors degree it was a almost a 24 hour job, I would get the kids off to school, clean the house, grocery shop, have to cook three meals a day and 3 different meals due to food allergies, cart them all over town to their activities one was in violin, one was in hockey and one was in soccer and other sports all year long etc. and then finally get home feed the kids, do homework, would be 11 o’clock at night, do the dishes etc. and then by 1130 12 o’clock at night be done. I used to make 500 a week years ago, I’m 42 now, see what they say, or offer, what did they pay their previous person, if they say oh we pay this much an hour, or just have a general idea. If you’re driving, if you’re not driving, if you’re just keeping an eye them, are you cooking meals or cleaning the house doing the dishes helping them with homework what exactly does your job entail and based on that then you’ll know how much to charge. If it’s just making sure they get off the bus and hanging out and from after school at two or 3 o’clock until six or seven when the parents get home, no cooking etc. into involved, you’ve got to figure out what your job entails first before you decide what you’re gonna￼￼￼

I’m a teen I would charge $20 an hour and an additional cost of $5 for each kid.

I would check locally how much babysitting rates go by. Where you live vs where other people live greatly impacts the cost for any kind of childcare. Here in the area of southern California where I live it is roughly $25/hr plus $5/hr per child. That's with someone that has no formal training in childcare and includes a meal and snack per child, for reference. BUT a town over it's $12/hr, 5 child limit also including meal and snack
