Should I Let Go Of Hope?

Question

My boyfriend (24y) and I (22y) of six months broke up last week due to me moving out of state for a new job. We both decided to not do long distance because we are not in the right place in our lives to do so, despite this being the most loving relationship I have ever been a part of. I would much rather end things amicably, stay friends, and potentially pick things up again down the road than grow bitter towards my partner due to distance.￼
That being said, should I let go of the hope and potential of us getting back together again in order to live my most authentic self? I am guaranteed to stay at this new job for one year and would love to hear any and all advice. I know I have so much life yet to live, but all I can see in my future is him. This is the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced￼, I didn’t know that grief could feel this gut-wrenching.

I think if you live your life as if you’re getting back together with this guy at some point, you will set yourself up for a lot of pain, disappointment, and missed opportunities. 
Also seems like the transition to “just friends” is going to be really hard - you’re still in love with this person. How is it going to feel watching him move on? 
If you can’t see a future without this person, is it worth trying long-distance? And if you really are both opposed to that…best for you both to make a clean break. Otherwise it just gets painful and confusing.

I would because if you are not moving on for the hope of maybe getting back together later you might as well just do the long distance. Live life and move on. If you wanna stay friends that is fine but if it is with the hopes you could rekindle in a year or so make sure you prepare yourself to be able to hear or see him in another relationship which may be very hard. Seems like you still have feelings so will him being with a new girl cause you hurt and jealousy?? Just be careful there or the hurt may make you bitter and the want of a maybe later would be gone too. I would stay friends but I am.nktna jealous personal all so wouldn't bother me but could see some women almost feeling the same pain as being cheated on in this situation so figure out if it would be better to stay friends or just kinda go your own for now and know if it is meant to be later you'd find your way back. But make sure you live in the now  and enjoy life.

I think you should move on, I got a feeling he’s going to move on rather quickly, men usually do. And it’s gonna suck like lemon juice on an open wound having to see him with someone else, so I would live your life where you are, and try and move on, if the job is longer than a year than white. I would live your life, and move on. Otherwise you’re gonna be miserable pining over someone, who may not even be thinking a day about you￼. And then have a hard time being alone, which is why cheating usually happens with long distance, someone gets lonely, an opportunity presented itself,. Unfortunately sex is so freely given and readily available thanks to the Internet especially and hook up sites and dating sites, on top of that people in reality, I was just live your life and forget about him. The job last two years five years who knows. Never stop your life to wait for someone. If he’s a decent guy, he won’t move on. If he moves on quickly, then you got your answer. ￼
