When to pack hospital bag?

What week did everyone start packing their hospital bags? And what’s one interesting must-have that you recommend packing?

I thinks I was about 37 weeks when I packed for both pregnancies. One thing I pack that might be unusual is games - Scrabble and a deck of cards. Labor can take a long time and honestly, gets kind of boring. It was nice to have something that my husband and I could do together while we waited for baby. I don’t really count my husbands scrabble wins from that day though, because the contractions definitely threw me off my game. 😂

I waited until 38 weeks to pack for baby #1, but did it around 32 weeks for baby #2 because I was high risk. I think around 35 weeks is pretty safe, but make sure you have a thorough list beforehand in case your husband or someone else has to pack it for you in an emergency situation.

This touch nightlight was my favorite unusual item that I packed. When you’re in the hospital they don’t have many dim light options, so this was wonderful to use when my husband was sleeping and I wanted to nurse or pump without disturbing him. I also had a c-section so I would turn this on whenever the dr/nurses wanted to look at my incision in the dark instead of having to use their tiny flashlights. Now that we’re home I like to use it for our last feeding before bed or when I need to do a diaper change in the dark without waking up my baby. It’s dimmable and it’s super tiny so it’s very easy to pack.

I'd do it by 35 weeks. I went to my 37 week appointment and was told I needed to be induced that day/I wasn't leaving until baby arrived. The only thing I had packed were baby items and toiletries. I had to leave my husband to pack the rest...he did not grab the clothes I needed/wanted. 🤦‍♀️

I hated the mesh underwear they give you. No need to worry about the pad shifting with these and they hold a lot.

As early as possible i finished packing on the weekend and had her on a Thursday. I gave birth at 38 weeks

I have to travel for work around 35-36 weeks so I plan on getting my birth bag ready by next week (32 weeks). That way I have time to prepare and make sure I’m not forgetting anything at the last minute.
If I weren’t traveling for work, I’d have it packed by 35 weeks. I’m going to a birth center but it’s about 1.5 hours away so I have to pack for the hotel as well as the birth center. I live in a rural town so unless I was having a home birth, I’d have to travel a minimum of 1 hour anyway.
