Do you hold baby for naps or lay down in their bed?

I’m trying to get my little one (1 mo old)  on a very loose schedule/rhythm and all the articles I read say put down for nap but I’m wondering if they literally mean put them in a crib/bassinet or if they’re just saying this is the nap time and you can hold them. I feel like id never see my son if I put him down for every nap since he sleeps so much at this point. Wondering what you other Mama’s are doing at nap time?

I have a 1 month old and I feed him every 3 hours. Half way thru the feeding I swaddle him and put him back on the boob and then lay him to sleep in his cosleeper that's in our bedroom.
For daytime naps we leave the windows open (not closing the blinds).
If he cries we are practicing self soothing and he will usually rock himself back to sleep.. sometimes he's uncomfortable and want to be turned so we pick him up, rock a bit or just pat his back, then back to cosleeper.
It's best to not carry them when crying but rather soothe while their still laying down so they aren't getting used to crying and being picked up every time. That'll become overwhelming exhausting for you and your partner I'm sure!

I do both, but will lay my son down in his crib more often for naps as I would never get anything done around my home. I also recommend baby wearing for naps. I have the ergo baby Omni 360 and it’s amazing

My five week old used to have a varied schedule of sleeping both at night/day at pretty random times and then I used to put her in a Moses basket downstairs if she accepted it, and do chores or nap next to her on the sofa. However, for the last week she's got amazing at sleeping in the night and will now sleep for like 12 hours (with interruptions for feeding every 2-4 hours) straight, in her crib, from about ten at night to ten in the morning. This is really nice for me as I feel I get enough sleep. HOWEVER, since she started having these 'blocks' of good sleep, she doesn't want to nap hardly at a in the day so now I'm like slightly concerned about that instead (there is always something to worry about isn't there??). So now I can't put her down properly in the day anymore, but she will sleep on me for a bit after she's eaten, small stints I pram/car when we go somewhere or yesterday in her carry sling. So I'm hoping this is enough as I would hate to try to change the 'ten to ten' block where I get to sleep so well and sometimes even have enough time to shower and eat breakfast before she wakes up properly and won't be put down again. Any thoughts on whether I absolutely have to try to get her solidly sleeping for 2 hours in daytime again?

I voted hold them.. I either hold her or put her in the boppy lounger beside me. When it comes to getting things done I'll set her down for brief periods throughout the day to tackle daily chores, half the time she's awake and like looking around. I need to get her on a nap routine of laying down in the crib but tried it once and think it was just to soon for her. Might try again soon!

It depends on my newborn mood he is 2 1/2 weeks and I feel everyday is a different story. Some days I put him in his snuggle me and for example yesterday I had him close to my chest in his carrier. Definitely recommend a carried I have the BabyBjorn and he loves it!
