Question is it normal to wait until 9wks or more to see an ob?

Drs seem as though you can’t be seen until 9 wks my first appointment is this Friday (made over 3wks ago) But I’m having on and off spotting for the last two weeks which Ob is aware of. The Ob office made it seem like it wasn’t normal and I needed me to come in right away. They did labs last Friday came back 28,486 than got a call Monday we want u to come in today for ultrasound someone will call u later. They couldn’t schedule me until next week on Wednesday. I just don’t understand. If so urgent why haven’t I been seen! I haven’t had a baby in over 12 years but the scheduling my own radiology appointments is driving me insane u can’t even get through the phones and end up having to use my chart messages. Sorry I’m just ranting. I’m curious if this normal and I honestly want to make sure my little bean is good.

My first appointment isn’t until the 30th, and I’ll be just short of 9 weeks then. I haven’t even had my HCG checked which I found odd. Like not at least an initial and then 2 dah follow up to make sure at least that side was good

They do lag, I also had spotting went to the ER because I wasn’t going to see my OB for another 2 weeks, and when I called to schedule a follow up they dragged their feet to make it happen. so yeah it’s probably normal didn’t get to see an OB till I was 8 weeks with my firstborn.

I think that’s pretty standard from what I’ve seen on here. My office did blood draws around 6 weeks and they checked hcg, other hormone levels, and more (can’t remember the rest). I had two miscarriages and personally would not go to an ob that didn’t do the blood draws around 6 weeks. If progesterone is low, they can prescribe some to help but they can’t help if they don’t know or even check. Ultrasounds were done at 8-10 weeks. I had spotting with 1 miscarriage and my ob had me get my hcg checked twice 48 hours apart to see if it’s increasing or decreasing. I don’t think your ob sounds necessarily bad, I’d just personally expect a little more.

This pregnancy my first ob appointment wasn't until I was 10 weeks. I did go in as soon as I had a positive test for blood draws but I've had two miscarriages before and my progesterone stops rising after a certain point while pregnant.

Pretty normal, I see them earlier because I’m high risk but for normal pregnancies they usually don’t see you until 9-12 weeks

Depending on the country you live in, I was seen right after my vvfl and have had appointments with my dr every 2 weeks since then for scans.

It all seems normal for me. I made an appointment when I was a 5-6 weeks and she didn’t see me till I was 10 weeks then 2 weeks later so when I was 12 weeks I had my scan. It’s just precaution to check you over especially when spotting at the most convenient appointment. If it’s really urgent then they will get you in there and then but spotting at 9 weeks they can’t really say or do much other than just check you over for piece of mind.

Question is it normal to wait until 9wks or more to see an ob?
