On August 3rd I believe, a Texas judge had to issue a temporary restraining order to stop Texas governor Greg Abbott form passing an executive order restricting migrant travel in Texas. Abbott is trying to pass an order that would allow DPS officers to pull over any vehicle they suspect might be carrying migrants. He claims it’s because of the rise of covid cases. Yet he banned mask mandates and brags about Texas continuing to put up a border wall just like Trump wanted. Apparently the restraining order stopping this ends tomorrow (August 13th) and Abbott along with his state lawyers will have to bring evidence that this executive order is only because of covid cases rising and not because of immigration.

So correct me if I’m wrong but this seems like he just wants it to be legal for officers to stop anyone, anywhere... for simply being brown. If this isn’t discrimination, idk what is.... Imo this isn’t because of covid or he would allow businesses and schools to decide whether or not they want mask mandates. Do y’all think he should be allowed to pass this executive order? Also is he going to have DPS officers testing every brown person they pull over for covid?
