ive been dating a boy for almost a year. hes my bestfriend and everything about him is perfect. we are 16 and we were eachothers firsts for everything. it never really got to me until now, but him and his whole family have HSV-1 (oral herpes). i was okay with it at first, and i dont have it or dont think i do. ive never had an outbreak or been tested but he gets them frequently and has had them since he was a kid. we kiss a lot but we never kiss while he has an outbreak and we don't do oral without dental dams. right now i'm on a trip and i now have a sense of clarity toward the whole herpes situation. it feels like he has an incurable disease. i want to stay with him so bad but i'm scared of getting herpes. i don't know what to do because i love him and he has no choice over this and it's not his fault..

i also feel like it would be a a slap in the face towards his family..
