NA beer during pregnancy
I had no idea this was a controversy but apparently there is a big discussion on NA beer in pregnancy. I wanted to see what Glow moms had to say.
Non-alcoholic beer has less than 0.5% ABV (different than alcohol-free beer, which is 0% abv). In the process they brew a beer normally and then strip all of the alcohol out. It could leave trace amounts of alcohol behind so that’s why they put “less than 0.5% abv” on the label.
Many pregnancy websites out there are weird about saying NA beer is safe, because “no amount of alcohol is proven safe”. My doctor was also hesitant to give the “all good” to NA beer but she also didn’t say it should be avoided. HOWEVER, these same websites say it’s good to drink orange juice, and orange juice can have 0.6% ABV! As well as certain bakery goods.
So what do you all think? Is an O’Doul’s a day able to hurt a baby in utero?
