I don't think I would get along with my partner if we lived together so we don't, we have separate lives but meet up and its okay I personally don't mind if he gets another gf because I'm  asexual and don't want to do those things myself but we are still close

It really depends on the relationship and the “absence” if you are absent from each other more than 6 months and you are back together for a short amount of time and the absence is reoccurring then for sure it’s going to make you both wander to a degree. At that point your relationship is part time due to the distance.
Now if it’s a once in a while thing or one time thing then for fonder.
