Am I a bad mom for putting my kindergartner on the school bus for the first day?

My 5 year old has never been to school (no pre-k due to Covid). She's been with me daily since she was a baby (SAHM). We've been talking about school everyday for a year to prepare her, she's been very excited. She loves cars and has been really excited to ride the school bus to school.

This morning, I took her to the bus stop with her dad and she was so excited. However, she cut one of the bigger kids to go sit down on the bus (don't know why she did this, she knows how lines work - we also had to turn in a paper for her but she was so excited) and the big kid & the bus driver snapped at her a little. This caused her to cry, I had to get on the bus for a sec & comfort her and then I had to get off & the other adult on the school bus sat with her to comfort her.

They did a loop around the neighborhood and gave me the thumbs up symbol, which I assume means she stopped crying.

I told my mom about this as I've been nervous all day hoping she's having a fun time; and she went off on me for putting a 5 year old on a school bus. That we should've driven her (she insisted she wanted to take the bus from day 1) and that she's not old enough to be with the big kids and it's too much for her. Made me feel like a crap mom.

Now I feel guilty as hell and wondering if I should've insisted I drop her off in the car everyday. Is she too young for the bus? My husband told me it's her first day, after a week or two he's sure she'll be used to it and won't be so nervous.

But my mom just made me feel like I threw her into the sharks.
