Inducing a little early?

Question

I just started my third trimester, but my doctor said there have been studies lately that show with high risk pregnancies it’s been better to induce at 39 weeks rather than wait for 40+ weeks for first baby. Is this in anyone’s birth plan? I don’t have any current complications in the pregnancy- just high risk for age, <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">IVF</a>, and minor autoimmune stuff.

I am a 37 year-old (getiatric  - haha), IVF mama with no pregnancy complications so far. At my 36 week check up my doctor mentioned the same study. She recommended a 39 week induction for me for no reason other than it was safe and she doesn't want me to go past 40 weeks (due to my risks factors, age and IVF). I took some time to think about it and decided I would like to give my body a little bit more time to start labor on its own, so after a second conversation with my doctor I ended up scheduling an induction for the day after my due date. I had a cervical check at 38 weeks and was 1.5 cm dilated and 80% effaced which makes me feel a little more comfortable with inducing because at least my body has been preparing for labor.  Another option my doctor mentioned to start labor was a membrane sweep. So if you are hesitant about the drugs that may be something to ask your doctor about. I wasn't really interested so I don't know much about the risks.

He is correct. Baby is already full term at 39 weeks. And autoimmune does make it riskier from longer than 39 weeks

Yes I am doing this as my birth plan I am getting induced this Sunday at 39+1.

39 weeks is generally considered full term in most states. I was considered high risk for most of my pregnancy because my daughter was measuring small most of it. However, I was offered in Arizona to have her in between 38-39 weeks. But I actually had to leave Arizona at about 34-36 weeks and I got to Pennsylvania and told them that they were going to induce me in Arizona and they looked at me like I was crazy. They did another growth ultrasound and baby was measuring perfectly. They didn’t end up inducing me till yesterday because I was 40+3 days. They wanted to wait till Friday but I was so uncomfortable that I asked to be before that.

I’ve been induced twice at 39 weeks and some days.
No medical reasons.
They offered and I accepted!
Both inductions went great.
