My boyfriend and I get along well, are attracted to each other, enjoy being with eachother and we have a great relationship over all. He’s emotionally mature..more so than me, cares for me and my family, and loyal. He is wonderful.

The thing I just can’t really get past is his family and him, yes they are nice people but he grew up different than me. The way they talk to eachother is harsh in my eyes. They call each other stupid or idiot and joke around, even with his parents. He can “talk back” and kid with his parents like they are more so friends.

Where as I grew up with parents who were strict and if I gave them one wrong look I would be smacked OR get a two hour lecture from my narcissistic father. They still are very much into respect.

I guess I’m just confused because it’s hard for me to be around that when we are with his family. His dad makes inappropriate jokes and they aren’t really funny. My boyfriend is a family guy and very close with his family. We’ve been dating for two years and this is my biggest tiff with him.
