Him and my mom are divorced, but he’s been in my life since I was 3. Here are my worries about building a house on the .50 acre he offered for free.

His kids are meant to inherit 40 acres when he passes, I worry they’ll treat me poorly for encroaching on their inheritance.

I worry his drinking will disturb my inner peace, I know his drunken anger is towards my mom, but ya know, she is my mom and I’ll be just a few blocks away from him. This is in the country btw. My mom won’t live with me.

My dad hates my step dad, I think he’ll feel hurt and betrayed by me accepting the land.

Any advice is welcome. ❤️

Thank you ladies for the advice, if we built on that land it would be signed over to us so his kids couldn’t do anything about it legally. I’m thinking of talking to them and if they’re not comfortable with it then I won’t. If they said go ahead I feel like that would ease my mind a lot. Btw it’s in the country but within those 40 acres there’s 9 neighbors. We would be on the other side of the 40 acres quite a distance away from my step dad.
