Covid Vaccine????

i’m 26 weeks pregnant. my doctor tells me every single time i go into the OB he wants me to get the vaccine but i am not 100 percent about it at all. even my mother that is diagnosed with ALS is not 100 percent about it either. my fiancé has not got the vaccine either and feels the same way i do about it too but he does work with the public so that’s probably the only reason why i would really want to get it but at the same time i’m just not into it at all. let me know your thoughts on it & whether or not you’ve gotten it. thanks would love to hear back from everyone.

I'm due to get mine at around 28 weeks.
I did a lot of research. I read multiple peer reviewed articles, as well as the information on the NHS website.
- Early studies (where women took the vaccine without knowing they were pregnant, or went on to get pregnant after) showed less miscarriage among the 3 vaccine groups compared to control (note this doesn't mean it helps you not miscarry, cause does not equal effect. Its just something worth noting) but this was a small study
- Study of 1000 pregnant American participants who voluntarily had both doses showed no more risk of pregnancy complications, miscarriage or still birth than control group. Suggesting that any that did occur would have occurred with or without the vaccine.
- Its unethical to test on pregnant women. That is why they didn't originally. Pregnant women opted in.
- The vaccine isn't new. Its based on previous SARs vaccines. Ignore anyone that says its "rushed". A lot of vaccines got scrapped due to lack of funding which is why they take so long. Its not that its rushed, its that other vaccines were delayed.
- Previous versions of the vaccine were also considered safe in pregnancy.
- Antibodies carry on to the baby, this can be so beneficial if you're opting for a hospital birth, or are letting visitors see your baby without getting tested first.
- For ease of mind, vaccinate after 28 weeks, when your baby is more developed so in the very slim chance there are long term health risks, your baby is less likely to be affected. However, there is no evidence to suggest any long term risks based on previous vaccines.
- Covid can cause still births, miscarriage, early birth, NICU stay, death of you etc. These have been proven. Many people who get covid have no symptoms, however pregnancy weakens your immune system so your chances of being on ventilation or other risks is statistically higher, especially if you have any other health issues.
Ultimately, its your decision. If you don't believe you're at risk then don't take it but definitely consider the WHAT IF scenario. At work we take 3 covid tests per week, we have had 0 cases the whole pandemic (but a handful of false positives). Then last week we had 1 confirmed positive staff member, so everyone had to take tests before each shift... we still ended up with 4 more confirmed positives 🤦‍♀️ and this is a care home with very high hygiene standards and everyone wears PPE.

Nope haven’t gotten it and not going to especially being pregnant I want my baby coming at healthy like god intended too. If I decide after the baby then that’s all up to me I’m not putting something in my body while carrying my unborn child. But it’s all up to you what you feel is right

My husband has been fully vaccinated since it was first available to us and I got my first dose at 26 weeks: I’m 28 now and will be getting my 2nd dose. I only had a sore arm and my husband had minimal side effects from his. I personally got it because 1. I have an amazing doctor who knows my complete medical history and after we talked about it, he highly recommended I get it, especially not that the ACOG started recommending it. 2. I work in healthcare & my husband is a technician who goes in and out of the general public’s homes everyday. We are constantly at risk of being exposed to Covid and I would much rather be protected and have a weaker Covid experience than be completely vulnerable to if.

Follow your intuition, momma! OBs have highly recommended lots of things in the past that had serious adverse reactions. Just because your doctor recommends something doesn’t mean you have to accept that advice. I personally will not risk the known and unknown adverse reactions for me or my baby. The FDA says on its Fact Sheets that it’s not even guaranteed to work (pg 8 under “Limitations of Effectiveness” on the below link). So why risk the know heart inflammation and all the other adverse reactions for something that may not even work? Also the FDA says that, “Additional adverse reactions, some of which may be serious, may become apparent with more widespread use of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine.” (pg 8). The same wording is listed on the Moderna and J&J Fact Sheets on the FDA website.
Ultimately, it should be your choice and something you’re 100% comfortable with!

Wait! You have less than 100 days. Get it before you leave the hospital after you deliver if you want. My OB said it’s not a smart move to get it, especially when pregnant. Even if you breastfeed you’re still transmitting less of whatever is in that concoction to baby than if you get injected while pregnant.

I got my first dose of Moderna a couple week ago and go back I believe early September for my second dose. I’ve had Covid prior to pregnancy and it left scars on my lungs. That mixed with my asthma and a pregnancy, I already struggle to breathe on a daily basis. My family are all working out in the public and both my OB and general doc agreed that the vaccine was a good choice for me. Me contracting Covid without the vaccine would potentially be life threatening for me and I don’t want to end up in a vent while pregnant. The vaccine lowers my chances of ending up in the hospital and that’s worth it for me. Even a small chance is better than nothing. But again, this is how I feel. My family are all vaccinated but were all shocked when I made the choice to get vaccinated while pregnant 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have not gotten mine and I’ve been contemplating. I honestly have no problem getting it when I’m not pregnant nor have any fear I have put a lot worse stuff in my body. But during pregnancy scares the crap out of me . It hasn’t been around long enough to know any side effects that it might have on the baby. Not enough pregnant women have taken it for me to decide to take it myself. I’m not afraid that it would cause miscarriage that’s for sure I just don’t know the possible risks. And I don’t want to be a statistic. But I have gone back-and-forth some days I’m so afraid that I set in front of the clinic thinking this is the day I’m gonna go get my first dose. I’m only afraid because if I do get Covid and something happens to the baby I’m going to blame myself. But if I take the vaccine and something happens to the baby I’m going to blame myself regardless I’m going to feel guilty.
I only know one person to get it during pregnancy and it’s my sister and she got her first dose at 38 weeks. But she also had Covid during pregnancy early on and she was totally fine. She didn’t have much of a reaction to the vaccine but it could be due to the fact that she already had Covid. Her baby is totally fine he’s 5 months

I got my first dose at 28 weeks. My OB had spoke to me about getting it one time, at the beginning of my pregnancy. She never tried to push me into anything, she just gave me the current facts and research. My husband and I had been going back and forth this entire pregnancy, he was completely against me getting it. I had decided not to do it since the cases were dropping. However, when delta came up I started getting concerned. I work in the health field and have noticed a huge increase in cases just within my patients. I brought it up to my OB and she sat in the room with me as long as I needed her and went over all of her research she had done on it and answered all of my questions, never once pressuring me to get it but did say she recommended it. I eventually decided that the risk of me catching covid (I have never had it) and being put in the hospital and not leaving to raise my daughter was too high for me with my health history. And my husband let me make that decision because he knew I would never intentionally put myself or our child in harms way. I get my second vaccination in a week and a half. And surprisingly, I’m so relieved. 
Now I say all of that to say every person should have the freedom to make that decision for themselves. Don’t let anyone guilt you or try to convince you to get it if you aren’t comfortable, or not to get it if thats what you feel is best for you and your baby. Do your own research. Speak to your OB, write down questions before going. Think about your health history and any co-morbidities that could make covid worse for you while being pregnant. Make the decision that is best for YOU and your family.
