LASIK eye surgery - Your experience?

After working 10+ years as an optometrist I have seen way too many of unhappy LASIK surgery patients. But again the happy ones never come see me. Things that are most commonly a problem afterwards: dry eyes, variable vision throughout the day(often because of the dry eyes), seeing halos around lights, vision continue to change and therefore needing glasses again(no another LASIK isn't always possible!), Often contracts aren't possible to use because the change on the cornea. 
Lower visual acuity then before with glasses or contacts. Needing to use glasses again regardless when hitting 40+. I have seen 3-4 cases where it went horrible wrong or the patient ended up with keratoconus.

I got it done back in 2019 & I now have 20/20 vision! I was a -5 both eyes I highly recommend lasik 😄 I paid about $4.5k

Paid $4,000 when I was 21 to have it done. 7 year later I needed glasses again. Dry eyes, poor vision at night, halos. Failed me.

I had it books and paid for a couple of years ago. I was super excited my SO and I took a couple days off, which was a total waste. The place I was going to had me scheduled and cleared for LASIK, told me I was a great candidate for it, and the day of surgery they told me nope we can’t do lasik we need to do PRK. After being told I was a perfect candidate for one, I couldn’t understand why I would need to change 4 days later. Which PRK has a longer healing time and I didn’t have the time available at work, but boy did they push it. They did this to my uncle and his eyesight took 6 months to get a little better and 3 touch ups. He was cleared for one, they changed it last minute and he had complications after. 
I still plan on getting it done, but I have basically been pregnant and haven’t made it 6 months PP since this appointment, and well Covid basically shut down all of my local (up to an hour dive) locations so that’s been and issue too.

Not me, but my mom had it done. It was great. She hadn't needed glasses/contacts in years. She's so grateful for lasik.

I loved it. I have glasses again more than a decade later, but they’re nowhere near as bad as before
