IS PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN A CHICK FLICK ?!

So this is obviously a really, really controversial one. Please respect each other in the comments 😂😂😂😂.
I just learned yesterday that my dad has never seen any of them. And when I asked why, he said "they're chick flicks".
I never thought of them that way, more like family friendly action/adventure. Stellar cast.
Am I being stupid ?
What genre do you think it is ?

I haven't seen any of those movies either, but I've never thought of them as chick flicks. I just have an automatic reject response to anything that is heavily promoted and very popular. 😬 "You HAVE to see this movie!!!"

I find it's a family adventure with a subset of comedy and a twinge of romance. I'm curious to know why he thinks they are solely chick flicks? 
Also, can anyone explain to me why the general public is misogynistic against chick flicks? I feel as is I always have to explain why I like them, but a "bro movie" is always meet with excitement?

It’s not a chick flick! I’d say it’s an action adventure movie. The first one is 👌🏼 good stuff and your dad is missing out! Can I also say that “chick flicks” get such a bad wrap and it’s a dying art! A lot of actors don’t want to be part of them because they wanted to be taken seriously but hello! Some of the best chick flicks included: Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matthew Mcconnaughey, Chiwetel Ejiofor.
