Skipping periods on birth control

So I want to start the pill, but I know there is the option if you want to skip your period each month or if you want to have your period every month. I would prefer to skip it because I deal with really bad cramps, but I’m just wondering if most women like to skip their periods or have them every month while on the pill? Also has the pill helped your acne if you suffer with acne?
