Teachers? Anyone?

Question

Any working moms out there that are teachers? I’m pregnant and a teacher. Had the thought Yesterday that I don’t know how a teacher with an infant - does it all ?

Yes, it has been incredibly difficult and I didn't have to leave my daughter until 8 months because of the pandemic. I'm a sped teacher so I get a lunch about twice a week and never get a prep. I ended up switching my babe to formula because the stress from work tanked my supply and I wasn't abke to find any time in the day to pump. I also had to set boundaries with work. The year before I would stay 2 hours late everyday to do work and prep things. With an infant, getting home at 6:30 was not an option. If i couldn't get it done within the hours I was getting paid to do it. I did a prioritized list and did what I could. If i didn't gst a lower priority thing done, then it had to wait. I would stay like an hour late 2 days a week to get in my prep time. Its really all about boundaries.

I’m a teacher and have a 3yo and 10mo. I’m exhausted all of the time lol. Honestly, I think it takes a very special person to love their own and then 25 others throughout the school year. You’re a mommy to your own and then a school mommy to others. But throughout it all, I’d be a teacher over and over again!

I’m a MS teacher and my husband is a HS teacher. We have a 3yr old and a 1yr old. Thankfully, they were born in May and July, so we had some extra months with them due to summer break. Then I took maternity leave in the fall. When I went back to work, our son was 7mo and our daughter was 4mo. I cannot imagine going back after 6 weeks. I would have been a physical and emotional wreck. Take as many weeks are you’re legally allowed even if it’s without pay. 
It can be rough to be so tired for sure. But I also found being at work really invigorating because it gave me a different type of purpose and it got me out into the world clean and dressed. I was more productive at work so I wouldn’t have to bring as much home. I’ve become more intentional about giving my kids my attention when I’m home and then working after they go back to bed. But I also don’t bust myself to get work done. If it takes an extra day to finish grading, then okay. If the PowerPoint is a bit aesthetically bland, then okay. 
Family first. That’s my view and, thankfully, my principal’s view.

I’m a school counselor with a two year old and 8 month old. Hardest part was finding pumping time with my two year old. With covid, I’ve been home since March 2020 ( when my now two year old was 8.5 months) it’s hard but manageable!
