When Do Children Make Friends?

Question

None of my friends live close or have kids close in age to mine. I don’t have a mom-group where I live for my daughter to hang out with their children. She goes to daycare and has a large group of kids there, but outside of that, she’s with her family. None of my family has any kids her age either. 
Anyone else in the same boat or been in it? Did your kids make friends? When?
The mom guilt is real. Facebook is the devil and makes me feel like every other parent I know has a group of friends including kids for their kid to play with. I feel like I’m failing my kids, but I don’t know if I’m feeling this way over nothing and should let my kids make their own friends and focus on family time now?
Any experience, thoughts or words of encouragement would be appreciated.

I found a few groups on Facebook in my small town that are for playdates! I've gone to the park meetups feeling weird and awkward but it's been super nice. There are guaranteed kids there to play with and the patents are kind and watch out for all the kids there

I'd say 3 or 4 years old generally speaking. I teach 4 and 5 year olds and most of them have friends in the class, not all though.

My daughter talked a lot about a girl in daycare when she was around 2 years. But the friendship was mostly maintained by the girl who was almost a year older 😅
Around 3-4 years old they start to find someone specific they want to play with. You could say friendship would start around there, but I'm assuming 5 years is more normal..
My daughter only has those in her daycare.
We don't know a lot either so she's used to being the only child when we're out. I don't stress about it. She'll get friends later 😊

She'll make friends at daycare. But year 1 when kids have more freedom and choice is where they click with a more specific group of friends.

I think this really depends on your kiddos age. I do find it hard to make new friends as an adult, hence getting friends in line for our kiddos… that said, maybe you can make a connection with a family from daycare and try out a play date. ￼
