Breastfeeding second time around

Haley

I just had to share with someone!!!

I just had my second baby exactly one month ago. He weighed 3.780kg at birth, and today at one month old, he is up to 4.945kg! He is exclusively breastfed and SUCH a different experience from breastfeeding my first baby. My first son took AGES to gain weight, I struggled with supply, and could never pump enough to keep up at work. I made it to 6 months of mixed breastfeeding and formula feeding with him before transitioning to just formula.

Things that are different this time around:

- I breastfeed on demand, don’t look at the clock, and don’t pay attention to how long he’s feeding. I trust in his ability to eat what he needs.

- I haven’t touched a pump yet, or a haakaa, or anything. I’ll probably pump in about a month, or 3-4 weeks before going back to work, to start introducing a bottle. Maybe a little earlier to make sure we don’t have bottle problems.

- I’m much less stressed about everything since he’s my second.

I can’t believe I’m having such an easy experience and feel so lucky. I hope we can keep it up! ❤️

Just so it’s clear, fed is obviously best! But I just wanted to share my experience!
