Any regrets with opting for/against PGS/PGT?

Whether you opted in or out of PGS/PGT, I’d like to hear if you had any regrets about your decision and why. Anything you wish you would have known or done differently?

Totally right for us. Two naturally conceived miscarriages. Then ivf gave us 7 blasts and only one was euploid, but eventually miscarried. Then 9 blasts, zero were fit for transfer. I’m so glad I didn’t have to go through yet more miscarriages. And the PGS testing revealed how chaotic the results were, and helped me accept the miscarriages that did happen.

I think it is a more useful tool if you have more blasts to test. Quality can be subjective. Our clinic didn’t even bother telling us and I am glad they didn’t to be honest as it adds more stress.  I had 7 blasts and 4 came back normal, the 3 not good ones could have been “good quality” ones and the ones which the clinic could have started transferring. Genetic testing doesn’t necessarily increase your chances, it just helps to get you to a pregnancy (hopefully) quicker and avoids putting in ones that would never work. From my research I understand that clinics have a better way of testing now through sequencing so it’s far more accurate that it has ever been before. 
I think your age also plays a part. If you are earlier 30s it may not be worth the money, but the older you get the tool can start to become for valuable

Glad I did it. 2 natural miscarriages. 1 failed FET. Half our embryos were very abnormal and would have resulted in more losses. Just too emotionally exhausting. So I know I’m giving myself the best chances. I know it’s more $, but at this point it’s really just a small amount more lol, for mental health - and the physical impacts of MC!

We didn’t test. My son was from a fresh transfer. My first FET after him failed. I’m doing another one next week. I’m stressed now because we only have 3 embryos left. I was overly optimistic because my son happened first try with ivf and fairly easy pregnancy

I’m glad we tested ours. We had success with our first transfer. I know that isn’t always the case, but it helped me personally to know they were tested.

After 6 losses before moving to IVF we were glad we tested our embryos. I didn’t want to risk transferring an embryo that was highly unlikely to survive. We did have a decent number to get tested so for us it made sense even more to eliminate any possibility of another failed pregnancy. We ended up have 2 embryos gone back genetically abnormal. So I’m grateful we did it and were able to transfer an embryo that resulted in a healthy pregnancy.

We had a successful fresh transfer and froze 2 additional embryos, without testing. I do sort of wish now that we had tested the 2 before freezing. We aren’t sure if we will have another pregnancy attempt and if we do, it would be nice to know if one was a better option than the other, because they are graded the same (and with 3 existing children and only MFI, we will definitely not transfer both at once). On the flip side, I was 36, so both could very well have come back abnormal, and I wouldn’t really want that to have made our decision for us, since “abnormal” doesn’t necessarily translate to failure or problems. I had a torsion after my fresh transfer, and it’s very unlikely I will ever do another retrieval due to that risk, so we have what we have. Our fresh transfer worked and all testing has come back normal, so I am happy with not having tested this one….it’s just the frozen ones I have second thoughts about. 
I don’t think there are “right” answers. Age, fertility history, family goals and how many blasts you get are really important factors to weigh against each other. Our algorithm was to send for testing if we had 3+ blasts in addition to our fresh transfer, so you can always do something like that to best accommodate your choices.
