Will this relationship work?

Hi ladies, I’m writing this in behalf of a friend. She and her ex were seeing each other again after being broken up for 3 years. Well, they decided it was better to not see each other but of course they still love each other very much. He fooled around with some girl and she’s now pregnant. He’s now in a relationship with her and mention of moving in together but he’s not ready for that as he does not love her. He feels it’s his obligation to do so because she’s pregnant. He says he’ll be present in the baby life but doesn’t want to settle down especially with someone he’s not in love with. He says he cares for her and all but nothing else. Do you believe this relationship will work for them both?

Sorry I'm a little confused. He's in a relationship with the friend or the girl he  knocked up? 
Because if he's not in love with her, doesn't want to move in with her, then why even be in a relationship? They don't have to be together to raise a baby. Obviously it's not "ideal" but as long as they can co-parent together that's all the matters. But otherwise from the sounds of it, no the relationship probably won't work out.

If they move in together when they're not at that stage of a relationship, it'll just make for a bad situation. Better to live apart and coparent instead. Parents do not need to live together, it is not an obligation, and it is not necessarily the best interest of the child.

No it will not work if he’s not in love with the woman he got pregnant with, all it’s going to do is create a strain in the relationship. I know you are concerned but this is already a sinking ship. I know he wants to be there for the baby but what’s done is done and there is now a baby in the picture. And who wants to create more drama ? The only thing he can do now is to support the woman in question as best as he can and try not to get himself into more drama. At the end of the day everyone needs to be peaceful and raise the baby in a loving situation. Co parent, you name it.
