Swollen, red, warm ear?

Last night our son’s ear was a bit swollen. I figured it was from a bug bite since held been playing outside. This morning it’s even bigger and warm to the touch. I don’t see a bite on it. He says it hurts but he doesn’t act like it (doesn’t seem bothered and lays on that side). 
Any thoughts on what causes this? It’s happened once before and resolved itself in about 24 hours (although I don’t remember it being warm to the touch that time).

If it's happened once before I'd get him a drs appointment. Could be something serious

His gland looks red and swollen too. This could be an allergic reaction, I would take him to a dr

Thank you all! His pointer finger also swelled and so did a spot on his arm, so we brought him in to urgent care. She didn’t have a cause and agreed it seems like an odd allergic type reaction. She recommended antihistamine and prescribed hydrocortisone cream if it bothers him (it doesn’t seem to). We gave him some Zyrtec about an hour ago. Hopefully it improves soon!

So when this happened to me doctors couldn’t figure it out. As an adult they’ve found it to be food allergies and mold.

I would take to the doctor or urgent care to rule out cellulitis or an ear infection.
