Do you give your breastfed baby vitamin d drops?

It was recommended by our pediatrician. My son is 4 months old now and we are still giving them to him. Did you continue to give them to your baby until they were finished breastfeeding?

Yes. I asked my pediatrician when we should stop and she said “when she goes to college.”

We did, I didn’t do daily though. I always took my son out in the sunshine since day one.

My pediatrician has me take 1600 mg of vitamin D a day, which is easier for me to remember since I still take my prenatal vitamins postpartum. With that amount, the proper dose gets to your baby through breast milk. Her reasoning behind it was that some studies found the drops to have excess D in them, so babies were getting overdoses, and it's much easier for an adult to tell if they have Vitamin D poisoning than to know if a baby does.

My older ones started on the drops and then I promoted them to the soft gel with me, and they are 13 & 11. Both were breastfed and are amazingly healthy. Butterbean will start the same regimen 🥰

Yes, and depending where you live (high latitudes) you should keep it up their whole childhood (especially winter!).

Yes, it's recommended here. I think it was until 2 years old recently, but they recently changed it to more.

My kids doctor said to but I never did. Just made sure they spent time in the sun. Their levels have always been normal.
