It was our turn! 36 weeks exact. Went to my areas MFM (2 hours from our location) for a Doppler reading for Baby As placenta blood flow, as we had complications begin arising 3 weeks ago, and notice the failure to get blood went from stage 1 to stage 2. The Attending OB said that they needed to come out today (9/10/2021) before we hit stage 3 and we didn’t want to risk that. I was sent home to do a csection in my towns hospital, half way back from the office to them, I got a call that the pediatrician from my hospital preferred we did it at our other hospital for the nicu in case they needed it..(our nursery isn’t full equipped to do much more than oxygen if needed). So I got home, picked my boyfriend up as he took off work early and came back up to the hospital 2 hours away. We get up here and waiting for labs and covid test results to come back and while waiting Baby As heart rate plummeted. After not finding it on the monitor they came in for an ultrasound which turned into an emergency csection to be done right then… I was wheeled back and placed on the or table within a minute. I hadn’t had my spinal yet, as we were beginning to prep me for it in triage, so I was put under to sleep. I woke up about 2 hours later in recovery to Baby A taken to NICU for low birth weight and low blood sugar, and Baby B was in the room with Daddy and I. About an hour and half passed and Baby Bs blood sugar was dropping and he was taken over to nicu as well. Both boys are currently still there on IVS and their levels are coming back up! My first ever csection, let alone major surgery. I’m very sore but glad that my boys are here and healthy. Any tips for this momma for recovery? My first three were all natural vaginal deliveries.
