Anybody considering cord blood banking?

What are your thoughts going into it? Could you share any low cost options to do so?

I'm not sure how it works around the world but it seems to be a bit of a scam here... I've decided not to do it but I will be asking for delayed cord clamping so baby can actually get the cord blood when they are born.

We considered it with our first as he has an abdominal wall defect that was discovered during the anatomy scan. We asked our high risk dr for his opinion and he said if it was him, he wouldn’t do it. Seemed like the benefits aren’t really all that great right now, but of course could change in the future. I don’t remember how much it costs but it wasn’t cheap.

I think baby needs the blood at birth and will be doing delayed cord cutting/clamping. A third of their blood volume is in the cord/placenta at birth and an extra billion stem cells

I meant to do it but never did with my other three, maybe this them? 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I only looked at the donation option (which is free) not the personal banking option (that you pay for). My though is it’s better then going to medical waste, but I always forgot to fill it out in advance
