Hi All,

I am a single mom to my baby. We live in an apartment, & recently I noticed that my building had become unsafe. I think the quality of tenants that my landlord is renting to has gone down since the pandemic has started. With that being said, I hear arguing regularly in the building and neighbors knocking on each other doors during the wee hours of the night. Not to mention In the last several months there have been rodents entering as well as pest. Needless to say, I am on the search of moving and will be breaking my lease early as I am also a victim of dv and therefore why I am a single parent... at times it’s hard and I doubt myself as if I should have stayed with my child’s father to have a “man protector”.

The other day, while my relative was here with me, there was a knock on my door from an estranged man that was looking for another man. Never before have there ever been an estranged knock on my door from a random person and it creeped me out as to how this person got into the building and why he thought, this man lived in MY unit. It made me very UNCOMFORTABLE as I’m not sure if this person is watching us and knows I’m a single mom with a baby.

So with that being said, what tools do you use to protect your family? & what are some creative ways that you suggest I use as a single mom to protect us?
