Sleep training, teething & night feeds

Cr

So I have a few more questions about sleep training, his sleep and night feedings. Please bare with me it’s a long post, my bad haha My boy is 4.5 months, 21 weeks (I think lost count hah) he will be 5 months on the 27th.

Since around the 2 month old mark until a week or so ago, he used to just sleep through the night perfectly fine! Maybe an odd night feeding here or there but rarely, more when he was going through his regression but I only had to resettle him back to sleep a few times throughout the night, so it’s not as bad as it has been this past week 🥲 he’s been waking up atleast 2 times for a feed and then wakes up earlier than usual. So I’ll write out what happened the other night for example: Got him down to bed around 8:30 (we are gradually getting his bed time down and this has been the second night he went down at 8:30), woke up around 10:30 and 11:30 crying but I was able to resettle him back to sleep (I think he was teething). Then slept through to 3am, where he woke up for a feed. Took about half hour or so to be able to get him back down, for some reason when he eats throughout the night he takes ageeeess like 20mins sometimes but I think most of its comfort feeding perhaps. Then he wakes up a few hours around 5:30am where I just fed him back to sleep and got him back down maybe 20 or so mins later. Then woke up for the day just before 7 (I know between 6-7 is common for babies to wake but he usually wakes up between 7-8). So I’m not quite sure what’s changed and why he’s been waking up a few times throughout the night now? Is it his teething that’s giving him grief or just a change of sleeping schedule?

Do I need to transition him slowly to his cot or can I just start putting him in there and start sleep training?

I’ll also be going cold turkey with having his arms out of his swaddle.

Would I be able to get rid of the night feedings by using a sleep training method or should I just keep at least one night feed and use the method for rest of wake ups?

If he wakes up at 6 sometime, I’ve read on here that people leave them in there until 7 no matter what. What happens if they cry? Would the time they wake up be the start of their wake window or when you get them out of bed?

Also can we sleep train even when they’re teething? It’s not all the time he gets upset and always make sure to keep on top of pain relief for him. But obviously if he’s in pain before he goes down to bed I will make sure he’s ok and try manage the pain 🙂

His naps are unpredictable. Average around 45-50 minutes and now getting one longish nap most days. Except just earlier he woke up after 20 mins 😮‍💨 ruining his early bed time goal so now it’s gonna be a late one.

Thank you if you have read this far haha x
