No hats and no pacifier after birth? ?

Howdy mamas! Can somebody explain to me why babies shouldn’t have a bath right away, or wear a hat? I see some mamas put that on their birth plan. 
When is a bath appropriate?

I’ve never heard of no hats! 
But I have heard about baths. Some people wait until they are home for first bath. 
And even then you don’t need to bathe them often.

A baby is covered in smells and natural fluids. They’re not running around getting dirty. They don’t sweat or anything. 
Hats are dangerous unless you are going to watch baby like a hawk. They should never sleep with them on. It’s a HUGE SIDS risk.

Haha I just responded to your comment on another post. I know a lot of people don’t want to give their babies pacifiers after birth because it is said to contribute to a harder time getting baby to latch during breast feeding, at least that’s what my doula told me!

The vernix on their skin is protective. Washing it is right away exposes their skin which can lead to it drying out. There were other resolved I forget as well

The bath is only appropriate after the piece of cord falls away from a baby's belly button. Definitely not recommended before that.
I have no idea about the hat thing. 
My husband and I are expecting our second due November 5th and we had our first July 25th 2020 and the nurses brought him to is with a hat and pacifier. Our first did not like hats though so we didn't bother with those but yes to a pacifier!.

Everyone has made very good points! In the NICU with my first, the nurses also warned me that I should wait until the umbilical stump falls off until I gave him a true bath. 
I was also opposed to pacifiers, but he had to have one because his oxygen kept dropping and the paci kept him calm and raised his oxygen levels. I later learned that pacifiers actually decrease risk of SIDS! It’s a pain to ween them, but it helped with peace of mind 😌

Newborns don't sweat or make dirt really so bathing in the first weeks aren't necessary, plus you don't wanna dry out their skin. As for hats that's strange to me since it's normally one of the first things that goes on
