An update on my son's friend

I wanted to update you on my son's friend. My son has a friend over to his big sleepover and he wanted to go home. I couldn't get a hold of his mom. He was scared because he still wets the bed. When I did get a hold of her she was rude and didn't care, then sent some strange man her son didn't even know to come get him. I ended up just taking him with us because I didn't trust him. Then abandoned her 11 year old at home for the 4th Of July with nothing but a bag of cereal to eat. I've done all the proper paperwork and I am his guardian rn.

So an update. They found his dad.... He's in jail... He's being charged for molesting his girlfriends kids. They were a 9 years old girl, 5 year old boy.... So yeah... His mom has pretty much just ran to live her own life.... Not a care in the world about her kid and he told me about his mom's abuse. So his bed came in. He no longer has day time accidents and only wets the bed about 3 times a week. I kind of make it a reward system, like he can have a small snack from the store if he doesn't wet that day or if it's a week he can pick dinner or rent a movie. Something like that. He still uses pull ups but my son is honestly the sweetest brother (hopes it's okay for me to call him that) they started calling themselves brothers. And last week he had said "Mom, can I go outside" he called me mom! But if he does have a wet night and he leaks my son helps him strip his sheets and wash them. My son's Nona treats him like her own. Basically my entire family accepts him. They originally went to different schools. My son knew him from soccer but they go to the same school now! And he's even making friends! Just wanted to update you guys.

Edit: For the adoption question, if it's allowed and they decide to terminate both parents rights then yes. His caseworker is saying the mom is asking about terminating her rights but they are trying to convince her to take the parenting classes.
