6 weeks and extreme cramps and morning sickness

6 weeks exactly and been having severe cramps for 5 days now. With my daughter I had bad cramps and ended up in the hospital to rule out miscarriage. I now have a 2 year old. This time I’ve noticed my left side of my belly is harder, crampier (stabbing cramps different than period) and my morning sickness is EXTREME. Last night I woke up in sweats. Anybody have similar experience and been okay? I called my doctor and they want me to have an ultrasound to rule out ectopic. This is my 2nd pregnancy and symptoms are so much more severe than with my daughter.
