Mirena IUD insertion pain

Got a mirena today for the first time, I’ve never had one before. I’m 16 and newly sexually active, and was terrified after reading reddit threads for hours about how the pain was excruciating. I’m writing this to tell u that if ur doing exactly that, please please stop. for the sake of ur mental health, reading up isn’t gonna affect the actual pain at all. Everyone is different, people generally don’t take the time to post when they have average/mildly bad experiences, only really intense ones. I entered the clinic practically having a panic attack, and while it did hurt it was definitely bearable. It’s an experience, and then it’s over. best of luck to anyone considering getting mirena!
