Car seat advice!

You guys… I feel like I can’t remember any of the basics! 😩 Please help me out here! Daughter is a month old.

1) I know chin to chest is very dangerous. What happens when their head is ear to shoulder? Is that just as bad? Her head always falls this way. Picture below. The car seat insert that comes with the infant carrier makes her head fall forward every time. I know you’re not supposed to put anything in the car seat that it wasn’t manufactured with so we have just done without any head piece.

2) Also, does the base look correct? When looking at it straight on (first picture below) it’s in the blue. But when I look at it from the slightest angle (second picture below), I can see some red. I boosted the base higher in the front in hopes that my daughter’s head wouldn’t fall incorrectly.

3) With rear facing, the shoulder straps should be just at or below shoulders. Her straps look super far below her shoulders, but the next level up is too far above. Is this setting okay? Picture below.
