Is there any other way of induction besides pitocin?

I may have to be induced and I was spoken to about pitocin. I’m not sure how I feel about it and want to consider all other options

There’s definitely other options besides pitocin, I’ve heard of cervidil, folly balloon, not sure what else, I don’t know the pros and cons to each option but definitely mention to your dr if your concerned about what method they want to use!

I ended up giving  birth at 37 and 5 but I didn't want pitocin because I ended up in a c-section with my first after it but my doctor said as long as I had no complications  and was dilating etc she could break my water instead at 39 weeks

Pessary, foley balloon, cervadil gel, breaking your waters (you end up having pitocin if you don’t go into labour after a certain period of time)

I took Cytotec and progressed really fast, I don’t think I even received the Pitocin because I dilated so fast. The second dose made my water break and I went from 4cm to 9cm in just two hours (I was 3cm when I arrived for my induction).

With my son I had pitocin & then they broke my water maybe an hour later & he was born within 40 mins. My cousin had the foley balloon & said it was the most awful experience ever. Each person is different. Research and talk to your doctor. You can definitely make the choice together that you will be most comfortable with. Good luck! 🍀💜

There’s the Foley Bulb which is a saline balloon that’s inserted into your cervix to help ripen it. 
Cervadil is a pill that is inserted into your cervix, also to help ripen. 
Cytotec is often taken orally and causes contractions to help ripen and dilate you. 
Then pitocin. Pitocin is the artificial form of oxytocin, the natural drug that causes contractions. 
My last pregnancy my water broke and contractions hadn’t started. I did one dose of cytotec to get contractions going. Then started with pitocin. Total from the first dose of cytotec to pitocin it took about 12 hours for my baby to be born.

Is there any other way of induction besides pitocin?
